Doctor's Appointment

I told you earlier that Baby G has not been feeling well starting Christmas Eve, well, today I decided to take him to the doctor's office.  Baby G's doctor isn't going to be back in the office until January 2nd so we went to a different doctor who is filling in.  I told the doctor all of Baby G's symptoms and then I told him that I want him to tell us that it is just a cold.
Here is a picture of Baby G before the doctor examined him.  He was such a good lil patient, and praise God, the doctor ended up telling us exactly what we wanted to hear.  It is just a cold.

Christmas

I have been looking forward to this Christmas for years....yes, YEARS!!  How much different BETTER Christmas is when you have a little one at home.  Unfortunately, Baby G had developed a terrible cough Christmas Eve and wasn't feeling the greatest.
Here's our sweet Baby G at 6:30am on Christmas morning waiting to open up his presents.  He was one happy lil boy but I think it had more to do with spending time with his mom and dad....the presents were just a bonus.
The first toy we showed him was a Thomas the train that makes noise when you pull the string.  All Baby G wanted to do, though, was eat the string.
Then we showed him his big Christmas gift....a walker.  Baby G LOVED it.  So far he's just scooting backwards but I think before long he will be zooming around the house like a madman.
Then we started opening up the wrapped presents.
 Mmmm...Another string to chew on.
He's watching his daddy open up one of the boxes so he can play with it.  He was very patient.
 Aren't they cute.
Baby G loved his new camera that sang to him... but his favorite gift was something that probably cost me 50cents.  It was a turtle bath toy, but he loved having the air squirted in his face.
It would totally crack him up.
It would take his breath away at first...
But then he would start giggling.
Watch for yourself.
Isn't that hilarious.  We had an amazing Christmas together just the 3 of us, but we also enjoyed Christmas with both sides of our family.  Christmas Eve we went to Mr. G's family's for dinner and to open presents.
Here is Baby G with his cousin.  They just recently started noticing each other and playing together.  Actually, they just take toys away from each other.  Check out this cute video of the two of them.

Here is Baby G opening up his first stocking.

How did Santa know that Baby G loves books so much?
Mmmm...Baby G with a stocking that says "L" ....very interesting.
Here's me and my sweet boy.
He loves the wrapping paper!!!

Here is one of my favorite pictures.  These two people are the best Christmas gift ever.

This might be the cutest Santa ever.
It was a fun evening...just wish Baby G had been feeling better.
Then Christmas afternoon after church we all headed to my mom and dad's house for our Christmas gathering.
My nieces were so excited to open presents that they had all the presents put into piles even before everyone was done eating.
Here is my nephew about to open his present from Mr. G and I.  Can you guess what it is?....
Yep, it's a ball. After he opened that present he didn't want to open anymore.  He just wanted to play catch.
I think this one bounced off his face and landed in his arms.  Nice catch, buddy.
Baby G is just enjoying the wrapping paper at this point.
Poor guy still wasn't feeling well.
He would lean up against me and play with his hair or his ears....
Here's a picture of all the grandkids with their great-grandma B.  They sure do love their grandma B.

And then we tried for a shot with them all sitting around the Christmas tree, but no matter how hard we tried we just couldn't get one where they ALL were smiling....but it's still pretty cute if you ask me.  The only thing missing this Christmas was that my brother and sister-in-law couldn't make it home for the holidays.  My brother is a preacher in Kansas and, praise God, made it home for Thanksgiving, but had to stay there for Christmas.  We sure did miss them a lot.
Well, that concludes our Christmas.  We were very blessed this Christmas and are very thankful for our wonderful family and friends, but most of all for our awesome Savior, Jesus Christ.  Merry Christmas, everyone!!!

Automatic Sprinkler

I was in the process of changing Baby G's diaper and I bent down to grab a diaper from a basket under the changing table.  When I looked back up I noticed that Baby G's hair was all wet along with the changing table cover.
It is hard to see in the picture but the whole left side of his hair is drenched.  You wouldn't know by the look on his face though.

So after washing his hair in the kitchen sink I decided to see what Baby G would look like with the slicked back look.....
Then I tried the crazy hair look....
But...when it was all said and done I just stuck with our usual hairstyle and Baby G seemed pretty happy with that.  So happy that he couldn't even sit up straight.

Baby G's Acting Debut

Last night we had our church Christmas program and Baby G was our baby Jesus.  He only had to be out on the stage for one song while the angels danced around him, Mary, and Joseph to the song Away in the Manger.  It is hard to see Baby G through out most of the song, but you sure can hear him.

I guess Baby G didn't hear the part, "No crying he makes."

Thinning Out Baby G's Hair

Both Mr. G and I had a head full of hair when we were babies so I always assumed that Baby G would have hair too....but I had no idea that he would have so much hair.  I'm definitely not complaining, but just amazed. This last week I actually had to thin out his hair.  He had a hair cut when he was 4 months and again when he was 5 months and both times the barber had to thin it out.  I like that his hair is getting longer but it was getting poofy on top so we put Baby G in his Bumbo and I started cutting.
 But I was very nervous.
He was such a good boy for me, though, and....
I like the way it turned out.
Also...Please just pay attention to the cute baby in the picture, not the weird look on my face in the background or the toothpaste marks on the mirror....It looks like Mr. G missed the sink by little bit last time he brushed.

Foooooood

Baby G has been enjoying oatmeal now for about 2 weeks so come his 6 month birthday I decided to start him on regular food.  I have always wanted to make my own baby food and after getting some good information from my cousin-in-law I found that it is very resourceful and easy to make.  I learned that the first thing you need is a hungry baby....
 CHECK!
After looking at some websites I decided to try sweet potatoes first.  I went to the grocery store and bought 4 organic sweet potatoes.  Come to find out....4 big sweet potatoes could last me a month even if I fed it to Baby G for lunch and dinner every day.  So I am set for a while on sweet potatoes.  First thing I did was bake 2 sweet potatoes in the oven.  Then I pureed them in a blender which made the house smell really good.  Once the sweet potatoes were pureed I put some in ice trays to freeze and others in old jelly jars to store in the fridge for Baby G's first few sweet potato meals.  When I am ready to serve the sweet potatoes to Baby G I simple put in on the oven on low and add some breast milk to thin it out.

It turns out something like this.  Then all you have to do is feed it to the baby.....but only AFTER you have secured a heavy duty bib.

He was excited to try his first real food.

Now he seems to be rethinking his decision.

I think it was the texture that was getting to him.  I decided to thin it out even more and...

He did better.

I just need to make sure I never forget the bib.
The next week we tried our next food... Avocado.  It is even easier to prepare because all you have to do is small it up like a banana and add breast milk and you are good to go.

Looks pretty yummy, huh!!!
Baby G had gotten to where he loved his sweet potatoes so I was hopeful that avocados would be a hit too.
He wanted to help me out.....of course.

It sort of looks like slime coming out of his mouth but surprisingly enough...he liked it.

Brush Your Teeth

Now that Baby G has two beautiful teeth it is time to start brushing.  I enjoyed going to the store and finding a training toothbrush and training toothpaste.  The toothpaste actually tastes like bananas and other foods.....(Why don't they do that for adults I wonder)
Once I finally got the toothbrush in his mouth he actually seemed to enjoy it.
And, of course, he wanted to help out.
I tried to get a shot of his teeth when we were finished but Baby G didn't want any part of it.  He is bashful about his new pearly whites.
